A News Release from the
International Brotherhood of Magicians
announcing the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award

A first ever, Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to the Super Stars of Magic Siegfried & Roy by the International President of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, David Sandy, at a magicians' seminar in January in Las Vegas, Nevada. The association, also known as the "I.B.M.," is the largest organized group of magicians in the world.

Siegfried & Roy have entertained millions of people during their 40-year career. Their show was closed at the Mirage Hotel & Casino following an accident during a performance October 3, 2003, when Roy suffered a stroke and was dragged off stage by a 600 pound white tiger. Roy Horn was not present for the presentation. He is continuing to make a remarkable recovery from the effects of multiple strokes and being caught in the jaws of the huge white tiger.

The magic-duo has been pioneers in integrating wild animals into their spectacular magic act. They turned a featured 12-minute act into a full evening production with specially written music, dance, illusion and the beauty of the endangered white tigers, white lions, and other animals that included cheetahs, panthers, a snake and an elephant.

For their performing efforts David Sandy and the IBM presented the magic-team with a one-of-a-kind crystal work of art designed by master craftsman and IBM member Victor Trabucco of Buffalo, New York. In addition to the words "Lifetime Achievement " there are the images of Siegfried & Roy on the heavy crystal statue.

In making the presentation to Siegfried & Roy, I.B.M. President Sandy noted: "Their contributions to our art and inspiration to magicians worldwide are unmatched. Throughout every single performance, these two gentlemen truly loved creating an unparalleled sense of wonder in the hearts and minds of countless visitors to Las Vegas. Even though the show is over, Siegfried & Roy continue to inspire, motivate and share the magic with magicians and fans all over the world. Known as the Masters of the Impossible, they teach us that seemingly impossible things CAN be possible in a way that is much more magical than anything we will ever witness on a Las Vegas stage."

The award was presented on the stage of the Splash Theater at the Rivera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas before a gathering of 800 magicians, amateur and professional during the final program of an annual magic seminar. With tears in his eyes Siegfried Fischbacher, said he was overwhelmed by the honor and was anxious to get home and show the crystal edifice to his friend and longtime partner Roy Horn, who Siegfried said would be with him next year at this annual event.
