News Announcement from Gary C. Payne
Founder, Worldwide Circus Summit 2015 & 2015-2016
CFA President
The
Worldwide Circus Summit 2015 (WCS2015), slated for July 14-18, has outgrown its
originally contracted spaces at the Eastern States Exposition (Big E) in West
Springfield, MA. I am pleased to announce that we will substitute a
123,000 sq. ft. building for our originally planned 15,000 sq. ft. Exhibition
Hall. We are grateful to the Big E for its generous offer. The Big
E and Circus Fans Association of America are truly your co-hosts.
This
new facility, Big E calls it their “Better Living Center,” will include brand
new restrooms, a Dunkin Donuts, and a sit-down fast food dining restaurant that
will offer attendees breakfast, coffee, and lunch options.
This
new Worldwide Circus Summit 2015 Exhibition Hall is especially appealing to our
Circus Model Builders and vendors for their displays, in that it has an
abundance of electrical outlets, air conditioning, high ceilings, and wide
aisles.
Outdoors,
adjacent to the Main Entrance, we have more space and convenient electric
hookups for our Sideshow, Lisa Dufresne’s Horse Show, and many operating
exhibits of the Carousel Organ Association of America.
On
“Circus Day” Cole Bros. Circus, our official convention circus, will erect its
Big Top adjacent to this immense building. Those of you opting to spend
the week in RV’s will literally be in the backyard!
WCS2015
Events at the Carriage House, Storrowton Taverne, Village Green, and the Circus
Museum, remain in place as planned. Storrowton Taverne and the tap room
offer wonderful meals and libations at lunch and dinner time.
At
these venues we will stage our Gala Opening Reception, pitching our Hospitality
Tent adjacent to the Taverne patio. In these locations we will enjoy most
of our seminars, meetings, the CHS and CFA Auctions and the CFA Banquet.
A
“Map” of the grounds and building locations is being prepared and will be
posted to our website in a few days (www.wcs2015.com). Check our site often for updates,
add-ons and schedule updates.
There
is lots more to be announced in the coming weeks, but let me recap for you some
of the major events we have recently added or enlarged:
·
Friday night – a variety show featuring performing circus troupes and
youth circus acts from all over.
·
Wednesday night – a traditional circus sideshow under a tent with bally
platform, banner line and continuously showing sideshow acts.
·
The American Youth Circus Organization (AYCO) produced Youth Circus
Showcase sponsored and staged by AYCO and featuring youth circus acts from
several youth circuses.
·
Jackpot Junction – a joint where circus personalities will take the
microphone and share their stories.
·
International Circus Film Festival consisting of three nights chock full
of circus films selected from the collections of circus-fan-movie-makers past
and present. You’ll enjoy professional screening of independent films and
videos devoted to the circus internationally.
·
We will soon release the roster of speakers lined up for three days of
seminars, The Circus: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow!
We
think it impressive that all participants in this first-ever event will be
paying the applicable registration fee. It’s a matter of fairness to all
performers, exhibitors, and volunteers . . . everyone is paying their way.
Where
else will you have the rare opportunity to rub shoulders with so many circus
devotees including owners, producers, performers, exhibitors, windjammers,
clowns, fans, and friends, in the same place at the same time?
At
this writing nearly 50 organizations have partnered to create the Worldwide
Circus Summit 2015. We appreciate the commitment of all in making this
the circus event of a lifetime – you are all to be congratulated in making this
THE BIG ONE!
